FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Stow?
Stow is a free packing-list app that builds a carry-on-ready list for your exact trip. Enter your destinations and dates and Stow reads the live weather for every stop, estimates item weights, and returns a categorized list — no account required.
Is Stow free?
Yes. Stow is free to use, has no ads, and does not require a sign-up. You can build, edit, and share packing lists straight from the browser.
How does the live weather work?
Stow pulls live forecasts from Open-Meteo for each leg of your trip, then aligns clothing and gear suggestions with the actual conditions you'll face. If a forecast is unavailable, Stow falls back to the calendar dates you entered instead of inventing temperatures.
Can Stow handle multi-city or multi-stop trips?
Yes. Add as many legs as you need, each with its own arrival and departure dates. Stow reads weather per leg and builds one consolidated packing list with a carry-on strategy across the whole itinerary.
Does Stow store my trip data?
Stow saves your latest trip and packing list locally in your browser so you can come back to it. Signing in (optional) syncs your trips across devices. Without sign-in, nothing is stored on our servers beyond the short-lived request needed to generate the list.
How is Stow different from a generic packing checklist?
Generic checklists are static. Stow generates a list per trip using live weather, weight estimates, your travel context (kids, formal events, hiking, business), and a carry-on strategy — so what you pack actually matches where and when you are going.
